Vehicle Repair Using the Library

Learn how you can use the library's resources to fix your vehicle and avoid costly repair shops.

Recently my vehicle failed its Missouri State Inspection.  Naturally, the repair shop wanted an arm and a leg to fix the problem.  Luckily, I was able to utilize the resources provided by the Kirkwood Public Library to fix my vehicle on my own.  Through the library’s ChiltonLibrary database, I was able to get the necessary information to perform the repairs on my own.  I then obtained new parts through Amazon.com at a fraction of the cost.  With the help of my father-in-law we had my car fixed in a few hours.  My car is now inspected and running smoothly!

ChiltonLibrary provides exclusive photographs, diagnostics designed by instructors, step-by-step repair procedures, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for automobiles and light trucks in one easy-to-use web site. Since the library subscribes to ChiltonLibrary, you are now equipped with decades of data to maintain your vehicle.  It is offered in the library or accessible from home through the library’s website with a valid library card.

Nick O'Neal is the Circulation Manager of the Kirkwood Public Library.  He is currently reading Spector of the Past, a novel of the Star Wars Universe by Timothy Zahn.
