Discussing The Banning of Books
Come to Kirkwood Public Library on Wednesday, September 25th at 1 pm for a fascinating discussion with Kirkwood resident Bob Boyd – The Censor’s Dilemma: Keeping Society Safe for Misfits and the Outright Weird. He will discuss some historical, moral, ethical and technological issues surrounding the topic of information control. The Friends of Kirkwood Public Library will offer gently used copies of books that have a history of being challenged and or banned for sale.
The Library also has several fascinating displays up currently, showcasing the titles that are frequently challenged and celebrating the freedom of expression enjoyed by American authors and illustrators. Check out our blog, featuring some of the titles that have stirred up controversy in the past.
