In Memoriam: Judge Robert Lee Campbell, Longtime Glendale Resident

Mr. Lee Campbell, who served for 33 as St. Louis County Circuit Judge, died on July 28 in a assisted living facility in Creve Coeur.

Judge Robert Lee Campbell, a judge who served more than three decades in the St. Louis County Circuit, passed away on July 28 from Alzheimer's, reports the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Lee Campbell was a longtime resident of Glendale, according to this obituary. He died at his senior center residence at in Creve Coeur.

Lee Campbell was first elected circuit judge in 1966 in the Republican ticket, the Post Dispatch reports. He was known for being a conservative judge and for handing down tough sentences.

In spite of being tough on crime, Lee Campbell had a soft spot for animals. According to his obituary, Lee Campbell loved animals and served for 17 years as chairman of the Board of the Humane Society of Missouri.

Lee Campbell is survived by his wife, Webster Groves resident Barbara Manes Campbell; his son, Michael Campbell; daughter Patricia Doyle; brother Charles W.F. Campbell Jr. and his two grandsons, Robert and William Campbell, among others.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Lee Campbell at 11 a.m., Aug. 11, at in Webster Groves. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Humane Society of Missouri.
