Vaughn Attends Future Presidents Institute

Patrick Vaughn, Ph.D., acting president of St. Louis Community College-Wildwood, attended the recent Future Presidents Institute in Baltimore, Md.

Vaughn, right in accompanying photo, is pictured with Christine McPhail, the program facilitator. The institute is an intensive five-day program designed for senior-level community college administrators on the direct path to a presidency. Attendees addressed topics such as transitioning to the presidency, global leadership and change, community college leadership trends and issues, connective leadership skills, preparing for crisis management, essentials of CEO and trustee relationships, and equity and diversity in community colleges.

The institute was sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges, the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges.  The organization creates opportunities for peer networking and interaction at all levels, professional initiatives, dialogue and community building. It also provides a national voice and advocacy for the community college mission and serves as a national information resource.
