UPDATE: I-270 Crash Lands Two in Hospital

Preliminary investigation shows that a three-car wreck in Kirkwood this morning was caused by drivers following too close.

Two people were taken to a local hospital after three cars collided on I-270 in Kirkwood this morning which created major backup along the interstate.

Three cars traveling in the same lane were involved in a rear end collision, according to Det. Dave Smith, of the Kirkwood Police Department. The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-270 at Big Bend Road, KMOV reports.

Preliminary investigation into the accident indicates that two of the vehicles in the accident were following too close, Smith told Patch Friday. Two occupants of the third vehicle in the accident were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to Smith.
