Custody Exchange Turns Violent in Kirkwood

Kirkwood police arrested an adult on two counts of assault, resisting arrest and destruction of property after a custody exchange on Christmas.

An adult faces assault and other charges after a custody exchange on Christmas turned violent in Kirkwood.

At 4:51 p.m. on Dec. 25, Kirkwood police officers responded to the 1200 block of Rockridge Place to standby while parents exchanged custody of a child for the holiday, according to the Kirkwood Police Department.

As officers arrived, an adult exited a home, ran to a vehicle where the child and parent were exiting, and began to assault two adult passengers in the vehicle, police say.

The adult was restrained and arrested for two counts of assault, resisting arrest and destruction of property. The cases were referred to municipal court.
