Auto Thefts, Items Stolen From Cars in Kirkwood

OnStar helps police find one stolen vehicle, while driving on three wheels leads to a DWI arrest in this edition of Kirkwood police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. 

Monday, Feb. 11:

At 6:10 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Wind Grove Road for a reported theft from a vehicle. Police said change was stolen from the car which was parked in the garage. The garage door had been left open.

Wednesday, Feb. 13:

At 7:06 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen from the 9900 block of Big Bend Road. The owner reportedly went into a nearby business and left the keys in the car with it running. Five minutes later, they owner returned to find the vehicle missing, police stated. The car was recovered a few hours later with the help of OnStar. It was located in the 4700 block of Alaska Avenue in St Louis..

Wednesday, Feb. 13:

At 12:07 p.m., a resident called police to report property damage in the 500 block of North Crescent Drive. Sometime overnight, the rear of a vehicle was spray painted white and blue.

Thursday, Feb. 14:

At 6:07 a.m., officers responded to the 10300 block of Manchester Road after a woman reported her purse was stolen from her car. Police stated she returned to her vehicle after being gone for approximately one hour to find the passenger front window broken out and her purse gone from under the front passenger seat.

Thursday, Feb. 14:

At 4:39 p.m., an officer making a traffic stop observed a vehicle pass by her driving on three wheels. The officer then stopped that vehicle on Rifle Range Road in Kirkwood City Park. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Friday, Feb. 15:

At 6:08 p.m., police were called to the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a reported theft from a vehicle. A laptop that was left on the front seat was stolen from the van after the passenger door lock was damaged.

Saturday, Feb. 16:

At 10:29 a.m., police were called after a 2008 Ford Expedition, which had the keys left in the vehicle, was stolen from the 500 block of Creekside.

Saturday, Feb. 16:

At 11:18 a.m., a youth’s Trek bicycle was brought to the Kirkwood Police Station after being found in the 500 block of Leffingwell Avenue.

Saturday, Feb. 16:

At 2:51 p.m., police were called to the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road by a woman who said her car was broken into and her purse was stolen from the front floor board.
