CORRECTION: Minor Injuries Result From Accident Involving Light Pole

Kirkwood police report that no one suffered major injuries as the result of an accident Wednesday, in which an electric light pole fell on top of a car.

On Wednesday afternoon, a utility pole smashed the top of a car on North Kirkwood Road near Bodley Avenue across from the Walgreens at 441 North Kirkwood Rd. Kirkwood-Webster Groves Patch received a report of the accident at 4:30 p.m.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident, according to Detective Dave Smith of the Kirkwood Police Department. One vehicle struck another which resulted in the first vehicle striking a concrete electrical light pole after the collision. The pole fell on the vehicle. The second vehicle then struck the third and fourth. The fourth vehicle was forced into a fifth vehicle, Smith said.

One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Smith added. No charges pending.
