Crime Log: 60-Year-Old Crashes With Light Control Unit

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glendale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Glendale police blotter for May 21-27.

Monday, May 21

A resident of the 100 block of N. Sappington Road reported her home was burglarized sometime between 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18, midnight on Sunday, May 20, while her family was out of town.  Nothing was taken, however, several ceramic figurines were scattered about the living room and several were broken on the resident’s rear patio.  

Tuesday, May 22

A resident of the unit block of Glenhaven Drive reported finding a woman’s wallet in his rear yard.  Investigation revealed the wallet and a woman’s purse were stolen from a vehicle’s open trunk in the 700 block of Bismark Avenue sometime around 2 a.m. this date.  The family on Bismark was moving items from the trunk into the house and the purse was apparently stolen from the unlocked vehicle.  The purse and wallet were located and returned to the owner, however, cash and checks were missing from the wallet.  The victim’s checkbook and keys were later found in a neighbor’s yard.

A resident of the 300 block of Park Avenue reported receiving a scam letter and a check from an address in St. Peters, Mo, asking her to deposit the check into her account, return the amount to the sender, then she would receive a monetary reward. The alert resident recognized this was a scam and shredded the letter and check.  She wanted others to know about the scam in an effort to help fellow residents who may receive a similar letter.

Thursday, May 24

A 16-year-old Kirkwood juvenile was taken into custody for violating curfew laws in the 700 block of E. Essex.  He was released to the custody of his parents.

Police investigated a report of a traffic accident in the 300 block of N. Sappington Road wherein the striking vehicle backed out of a driveway and collided with the dusk to dawn controller unit for the Sappington Road street lights and left the scene.  A witness provided a description of the striking vehicle and its occupants to police.  Several hours later, a 60-year-old Wentzville man, who admitted responsibility, was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Property Damage.  

Saturday, May 26

A resident of the 700 block of Glenvista Place reported persons unknown fraudulently used her debit card number to make online purchases.  

A 20 year old Maplewood man was arrested in the 1300 block of N. Sappington Road and charged in Municipal Court with Driving While Suspended and as a fugitive of the Maplewood Police Department.  He was released on bond.
