Crime Log: Driver Allegedly Huffed Fumes Before Kirkwood Accident

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Kirkwood police blotter for June 27 through July 3.

Monday, June 27

  • At 1:03 p.m., officers were summoned to the 1400 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of a motor vehicle accident. A truck struck a statue on private property. The driver, an adult male, was determined to be under the influence of an intoxicant since he inhaled fumes from an aerosol can shortly before the accident. He was arrested.

  • At 12:50 a.m., police stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 600 block of Dougherty Ferry Road. Investigation led to the arrest of the adult male driver after it was discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Wednesday, June 29

  • At 4:06 a.m., a resident from the 500 block of Coulter reported two males stealing tools from his vehicle at the residence. At 5:34 p.m., a resident from the 400 block of Coulter also reported tools stolen from his vehicle sometime during the previous overnight hours.

  • Police were summoned to the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road to investigate a motor vehicle accident. A female driver involved ran on foot from the scene prior to police arrival. She was captured a short time later and arrested. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended driver’s license and resisting arrest. 

Friday, July 1

  • At 3:55 a.m., a motorist was stopped by police for a traffic violation on southbound Interstate 270 near Marshall Road. The driver, an adult male, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. 

Saturday, July 2

  • At 6:05 p.m., a resident in the 11800 block of Big Bend Road reported that the tires on his vehicle had been slashed and property was stolen from his yard. The investigation continues.

Sunday, July 3

  • At 08:07 a.m., a resident on Provincial Court called to report her vehicle had just been stolen. The caller reported leaving the keys to the vehicle visible while she went into the house. When she came back outside, the vehicle was missing.   
  • At 8:14 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Dubray Court for a report of theft from a vehicle. While in the area, officers discovered that a total of five cars parked on Dubray Court and Dubois Court had items stolen from them. All vehicles were unlocked. The investigation continues.
