Crime Log: Police Report Burglaries in Southwest Kirkwood

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for July 25 through July 31.

Monday, July 25

  • At 2:43 a.m., officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 800 block of South Kirkwood Road. The driver, an adult male, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested.
  • At 7 a.m., a resident from the 2300 block of Timberview Road reported property damage to police.  Three windows on the resident’s vehicle were broken by BBs sometime during the previous weekend. 

Tuesday, July 26

  • At 12:48 a.m., police responded to the intersection of North Taylor and East Maple Avenues for a report of subjects attempting to steal a street sign. Officers arrived but did not locate anyone and the street sign was intact. The suspect vehicle was located by officers at the intersection of North Kirkwood Road and West Jefferson Avenue. Two occupants of the vehicle were issued summons for stealing after another street sign from an area intersection was found inside the vehicle. 

Thursday, July 28

  • At 9:05 a.m., a resident notified police of an attempted burglary at the residence. The resident discovered a chair pushed up to a rear window and the screen to the window was pushed up. Entry was not made into the residence. 

Saturday, July 30

  • At 11:32 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Andrews and West Rosehill Avenues for a destruction of property report. A resident living nearby reported an unknown person broke a rear window out of her vehicle with a baseball bat. The investigation continues.    

Shoplifting: July 25-31

  • During the week, Kirkwood police arrested one adult male and one adult female for shoplifting merchandise. Both offenses occurred at a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.  The male was found to have at least two prior theft-related convictions and was charged with felony stealing. His case will be forwarded to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

Burglaries in Southwest Kirkwood

Kirkwood police are reporting "a couple" of burglaries and several attempted burglaries in the southwest section of the city. Detectives are working on the cases and may have a suspect in mind, Community Services Officer Jim Cox said in an email to residents.

Residents should call police dispatch at 314-822-5858 to report any suspicious activity. Police are encouraging residents to lock their homes and vehicles.
