CRIME LOG: Thefts From Vehicles, DUI Arrests in Kirkwood

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for June 11-17.

Monday, June 11

  • At 12:10 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of East Washington and North Taylor avenues. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle and the driver left the scene on foot. The adult driver of the vehicle was located by officers nearby. He was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

  • Officers responded to two separate calls for vehicle break-ins. The first was reported at 1:58 p.m. in the 900 block of Bishops Gate Lane. Sporting equipment, a vehicle stereo and books were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The second was reported at 4:49 p.m. Make-up and papers were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
  • At 11:17 p.m., police received a report of theft from a vehicle parked at Kirkwood City Park, 502 West Adams. An iPhone was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.  

Thursday, June 14

  • At 3 p.m., a resident residing in the 2300 block of Timberview reported a case of identity theft to police. The resident discovered unknown persons gained access to one of his credit card numbers and used it to make over $300 in purchases in Florida.
  • At 7:13 p.m., police received a delayed theft report. The victim reported while working someone entered her purse earlier that day and stole cash and credit cards. The stolen credit cards were then used at retail stores in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of South Kirkwood Road to make purchases exceeding $1,200 at each business. 

Friday, June 15

  • At 11:58 a.m., a Kirkwood resident had her purse stolen while she was shopping at a retail business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The purse was left unattended in a shopping cart and contained credit cards, cash, and photos.
  • At 12:09 p.m., a resident from the 400 block of Woodlawn Estates Drive called police to report a theft of jewelry. The resident first noticed jewelry missing in April 2012. Detectives spoke with an adult that admitted to stealing the jewelry. The adult had access to the home via a cleaning service. The adult was arrested and the case was referred to municipal court. 

Saturday, June 16

  • At 1:31 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Virginia and Edna. One vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle stopped at the intersection. One of the adult drivers was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he failed field sobriety tests.
