Police: Women Steal Gifts Meant for Trash Collectors

Weekly incidents from the Glendale Police Department.

The Glendale police blotter for Dec. 17-23. The following information was provided by the Glendale Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. 

Monday, Dec. 17

At 8:21 a.m., a resident of the 200 block of Parkland Avenue reported the theft of jewelry from her residence sometime between May 13, 2012 and June 17, 2012. Police are investigating.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

At 8:20 a.m., an alert resident of the unit block of Gramercy Place reported two females stealing “gifts” intended for the residents’ refuse collectors from trash cans at the curb.  Residents left the “holiday gifts” taped to their trash cans for their trash collectors. Two St. Louis women were located in the 400 block of N. Sappington Road and charged in Municipal Court with Stealing.  The investigation revealed the gifts were stolen from residents’ trash cans in the unit block of Gramercy, the unit block of Algonquinwood Place, the 100 block of Cornelia, the 200 block of Parkland, the 900 block of Dwyer, the unit and 100 blocks of Austin, and the 100 block of Trevillian.  The gifts were recovered in the women’s vehicle and will be turned over to the intended party after the cases are adjudicated. The women were released on bond.

Wednesday, Dec. 19

At 9:29 a.m., a resident of the 700 block of Juanita reported receiving harassing calls from a “blocked” number on her cellular phone.  She was advised to contact her cellular service provider for assistance.

Thursday, Dec. 20

At 12:43 p.m., a 49-year-old High Ridge woman was arrested at the Glendale Police Department and charged with Stealing Over $500 after she allegedly confessed to stealing jewelry from a home in the 200 block of Parkland (reported on 12/17).  The woman was the resident’s housekeeper.  Formal charges are pending from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Friday, Dec. 21

At 5:59 p.m., management from a retail store in the 9900 block of Manchester Road reported receiving two “Account Closed” checks from a 27 year old Overland woman on 9/14/2012.  Attempts to contact the woman by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office were to no avail.  Police are investigating.

Sunday, Dec. 23

At 6:52 a.m., a 22-year-old Kirkwood man was arrested in the 100 block of N. Sappington Road and charged in Municipal Court with Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.  He was released on bond.

Sunday, Dec. 23

At 7:00 p.m., an “LG” cellular phone was found near the intersection of Brownell and Sappington Roads. The phone was brought to the Glendale Police Department for safekeeping until the owner is identified.
