Des Peres Police Alert Residents to Crime Nearby

Des Peres police are reminding residents to lock all doors to avoid falling victim to thefts and burglaries.

Des Peres police sent out an alert to residents Tuesday reminding them to lock all doors to help prevent falling victim to thefts and burglaries. Police point out that they have not had a rash of recent activity to prompt the warning, but there have been reports of car thefts and damage in nearby cities.

Police are asking residents to lock all car and home doors, including garage doors.

Following is the email alert sent out by police Tuesday.

Surrounding Area Crime Report / City of Des Peres

We have been fortunate enough to have very little to report in regards to Neighborhood and Business problems in the City of Des Peres over the holidays. This of course is with the exception of the U.S. Bank Robbery, which was handled well by the local news media outlets. But I wanted to pass this information along so as to hopefully avoid becoming victims like other have been in the past.

Recently this office received information from surrounding municipalities in regards to stealing from unlocked vehicles and damage to others parked on residential streets (including keying, tire slashing , etc…). Thankfully, we have not seen this trend inside the City of Des Peres as of late. Even with that being said, we at the Department of Public Safety want to remind our residents to take the extra time and make sure your vehicles and residents (to include garage doors) are secured before retiring for the evening. And as always please report any suspicious sightings, immediately, to the Des Peres Police Department. (Emergency 911 / Non-Emergency 314-835-6200)
