False Police Report Leads to Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Jan. 17

  • At 3:03 a.m., police received a report of a subject slumped at the wheel of a vehicle at the intersection of Big Bend Road and Interstate 270. Officers arrived and discovered an adult driver was sleeping in the vehicle. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

  • At 10:21 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Fillmore Avenue for a theft report. A resident reported a laptop computer stolen from his unlocked vehicle sometime during the previous evening. 

Thursday, Jan. 19

  • At 10:45 p.m., police responded to a business lot in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Road for a report of a subject flourishing a knife. Officers arrived and interviewed a witness who claimed the incident did not happen as reported. During the course of the investigation the suspect was stopped by officers in the 100 block of West Washington Avenue. The adult was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. 

Saturday, Jan. 21

  • On Saturday, officers arrested an adult responsible for filing a false police report. The original incident occurred the day prior when the adult reported a burglary at their residence. Keys to the person’s vehicle were stolen along with a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the adult driver for the burglary and stolen vehicle as well as other traffic offenses. Investigation into text messages revealed the original adult’s story of the burglary and stolen vehicle to be false. The case will be referred to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.  

Sunday, Jan. 22

  • Police arrested an adult responsible for passing a bad check at a retail business located in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The original incident occurred during the first week of November. The adult claimed to have received the check in the mail and then cashed the check without investigating the check’s authenticity. The case was referred to municipal court.
