UPDATE: Fire Crews Respond to Car Fire at West County Mall

Fire crews were called to West County Center Friday morning for a vehicle fire that was put out without incident.

UPDATED: 11:40 a.m.-

If you saw fire crews at West County Center just after 10 a.m. Friday, the mall was not on fire.

According to the Des Peres Fire Department, crews were called for a vehicle fire in the parking garage near Interstate 270 and Manchester Roads.

Witnesses tell Patch, the fire created quite a bit of smoke, but fire crews now tell Patch the fire was put out without incident and the fire was contained to the car, despite construction taking place in the garage.

"It took a little bit longer to get the car our because of the repairs going on," Des Peres Fire Marshal Sean Quinn tells Patch.

Quinn said the mall's water supply was also being worked on so crews had to use a ladder truck to supply water put out the fire.

"Nothing was shut down at the mall. It all worked like it was supposed to," Quinn said. "Nobody was ever in danger."

Quinn said there were no injuries and no smoke inhalation.
