Crime Log: Thieves Target Unlocked Vehicles in Glendale

The following arrest information was supplied by the Glendale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Glendale blotter for April 23-29

Tuesday, April 24

  • At 4:04 p.m., a resident of the unit block of Highland Place reported receiving several unwanted telephone calls from telemarketers wanting to place a security system sign in her front yard “due to recent crime in the area”. The caller would not identify themselves when asked. The resident was advised to contact her telephone service provider, as well as to file a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office since she was on the “No Call” list.

Wednesday, April 25

  • At 9:19 a.m., a wallet was found near the intersection of N. Sappington and Hawbrook Roads. The owner was identified, located, and the wallet returned to him.
  • At 11:25 a.m., a cell phone was found near the intersection of North Sappington Road and Beverly Avenue. The owner was located a short time later and the phone was returned to him.

Thursday, April 26

  • At 9:30 a.m., a resident of the 800 block of Lisakay Drive reported the theft of an Apple iPhone, an Apple iPad, and respective charging cords from his unlocked company vehicle, which was parked in his driveway overnight. 
  • At 10:57 a.m., a resident of the 900 block of Victoria Place reported the theft of a radar detector and GPS unit from her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, sometime overnight.
  • At 1:32 p.m., a resident of the unit block of Berrywood Drive reported a man soliciting for Edward Jones Investments. The man was located and found to be in possession of a valid City Solicitor’s Permit.
  • At 5:57 p.m., a resident of the 800 block of Victoria Place reported the theft of a radar detector from her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight.  The resident believed her dog scared the thief away by barking between 2-3 a.m., as there were other items of significant value left undisturbed in the vehicle.

Friday, April 27

  • At 3:55 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance between boyfriend and girlfriend in the 800 block of Queen Anne Place. A 46-year-old Glendale man was arrested for Domestic Assault and Felonious Restraint. He was released pending formal charges by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
  • At 9:25 a.m., a resident of the unit block of Southridge Drive reported the theft of a backpack and miscellaneous items from her unlocked vehicle, which was parked in her driveway, sometime during the overnight hours of Wednesday, April 25.
  • At 12:37 p.m., an employee of a business located in the 9900 block of Manchester Road reported an elderly male struck the side of the business building then drove off. The man was identified and advised to contact the business to repair any damages.
  • At 9:02 p.m., a resident of the 400 block of North Sappington Road reported that, in addition to the expired license plates reported stolen on April 8, a battery was also stolen from her vehicle sometime during the past several months. She suspected her ex-boyfriend as the responsible party for both thefts. The ex-boyfriend was contacted who admitted having the license plates as his ex-girlfriend “loaned them to me for my son’s van," but denied any knowledge of the missing battery. The license plates were returned to the reporting party.

Saturday, April 28

  • At 12:46 a.m., a resident of the 800 block of Alexandra Avenue reported the theft of a cell phone and a wallet from a guest’s unlocked vehicle, which was parked in the resident’s driveway, sometime between 10 p.m. and 12:45 a.m.
  • At 10:22 a.m., a resident of the 1000 block of Joanna Avenue reported her wallet/purse, containing approximately $60 in cash, a credit card, her driver’s license and other personal items, was either lost or missing. She was unsure of the location or time of occurrence. She believed she may have left the items in a local grocery store within the past couple of days.
  • At 2:02 p.m., a resident of the 800 block of Lisakay Drive reported the theft of a Garmin GPS Unit from his wife’s unlocked vehicle, which had been parked in their driveway, sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26.
  • At 2:40 p.m., police responded to a family disturbance in the 800 block of West Lockwood Avenue. The matter was diffused and settled for the evening.
  • At 6:50 p.m., high winds reportedly knocked down a tree near the intersection of Venneman Avenue and Venneman Alley. A medium-sized tree branch was removed from the roadway. A minor amount of temporary power outages were reported to police, however, there were no injuries or other property damage reported as a result of the storms which came through the area.
