CRIME LOG: Man Allegedly Confesses to Glendale Jewelry Theft

The following information was supplied by the Glendale Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Glendale police blotter for July 16-22

Monday, July 16

  • At 10:08 a.m., the cosmetic bag containing three watches found in the 1200 block of Brownell Avenue on July 9 and reported to police on July 14 was discovered to have been stolen from an unlocked vehicle on July 9, along with a GPS unit. The property was returned to its owner.
  • At 11:11 p.m., a 34-year-old Affton man was arrested in the 9900 block of Manchester Road and charged in Municipal Court with Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle and as a fugitive of the St. Louis County Police Department. He was released to St. Louis County authorities after posting bond on the Glendale charge.

  • At 10:48 a.m., the Frederick Lane resident who has reported receiving several foreign lottery scam phone calls in the past month reported receiving several more calls. Police, along with the Federal Trade Commission, continue to investigate.

Wednesday, July 18

  • At 11:37 p.m., two males, apparently in their teens, were spotted by police looking into parked vehicles in the area of Berry Road and Lockwood Avenue.  Upon being seen by police, the two males ran from the scene. Police attempted to chase them on foot, but lost sight of them in rear yards. No vehicles were found to have been tampered with.

  • At 11:58 a.m., a 48-year-old Glendale man was charged in Municipal Court with Failure to Confine his dogs, which were found running at large in the area of the 400 block of N. Sappington Road. 
  • At 7:40 p.m., a resident of the unit block of Frederick Lane reported persons unknown placed a bungee cord around a door handle inside her garage. The resident believed this to be a prank, but wanted police to be aware of the situation.

Friday, July 20

  • At 6:40 p.m., a resident of the unit block of Moreland Avenue reported the theft of his bicycle, which was stored outside next to his unattached garage. The bicycle was last seen sometime in June. The bicycle was described as a Trek Men’s Mountain Bike.

Saturday, July 21

  • At 2:42 p.m., a resident of the 900 block of Glenway Drive reported a landscaper’s lawn mower fell from his trailer as it passed his parked and unoccupied vehicle in front of his residence, causing damage to the vehicle.  The landscaper continued on his route and left the scene of the accident. A 44-year-old Fenton man was later arrested at the Glendale Police Department when he surrendered himself after police contacted his employer. He was charged in Municipal Court with Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid License, Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident, Failure to Secure Vehicle Load and Property Damage. He was released on bond.

Sunday, July 22

  • At 12:32 p.m., a 22-year-old Ellisville man was arrested at the St. Louis County Justice Center after he allegedly confessed to his involvement in a jewelry theft in the 1000 block of Chelsea Avenue, which was reported on May 10. He was released pending formal charges from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
  • At 4:33 p.m., the bicycle, which was found in the 700 block of Greenview Drive on July 2, was re-united with its owner who reported it stolen on Friday, July 20.
