Helicopter Aids in Arrest of Fleeing Motorist

Interstate pursuit of driver begins in Kirkwood and ends in Ballwin.

A St. Louis County helicopter assisted in the arrest of a motorist who was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Kirkwood police.

At 2:13 a.m. this past Friday, Kirkwood police officers attempted to stop George Delonjay, 36, of the 2000 block of St Christopher Way in Arnold, MO, for a traffic violation on I-270 northbound near Marshall Road.

Delonjay failed to yield to police and continued to travel north, according to Kirkwood police. St. Louis County Police Helicopter Air 2 followed the vehicle to the 1300 block of Reflection Drive in Ballwin.

The driver was arrested, and the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued warrants against Delonjay for Driving While Intoxicated and three associated traffic offenses, police say. Delonjay was held pending a $30,000 bond.
