Miles-Long Chase at High Speeds Ends in Des Peres

The chase that reportedly involved a driver trying to back over a police officer involved spike strips, 10 police departments and speeds of more than 75 miles per hour.

A male driver and a female passenger were arrested in Des Peres this morning after a high speed police chase that spanned multiple cities and involved 10 police departments.

According to Patch partner FOX 2, the chase started around 1:30 a.m. when the driver reportedly tried to back over a police officer in St. Louis City.

During the chase, police took out one of the car's tires with a spike strip, but that didn't stop the driver from continuing to try to evade police. During the chase, speeds topped 75 miles per hour, according to FOX 2.

The male driver was arrested on charges of attempted assault on a police officer.

St. Louis City and County and Richmond Heights police departments were involved in the chase.
