Kirkwood Crime Log: Feb. 27- March 4

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for Feb. 27- March 4:

Wednesday, Feb. 29:

  • At 3:30 a.m., police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Aldridge Road for a theft report. The victim reported her vehicle stolen sometime within the previous 30 minutes. The vehicle was involved in an accident in St Louis shortly before the report was filed. The victim later recanted her story about the vehicle being stolen. She was issued a summons for filing a false police report.
  • At 10:34 a.m., officers received a report of theft in the 12300 block of Old Big Bend Road. Unidentified individuals stole copper hardware from a cell phone tower.
  • At 7:31 p.m., police were dispatched to a retail business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a suspicious person report. Employees observed several subjects in the store gathering merchandise at random and thought a theft was about to occur. As officers arrived, four individuals ran from the store with numerous items of clothing. Officers stopped the subjects prior to entering a waiting vehicle. All merchandise was dropped and the four fled on foot. One subject was captured and arrested nearby. The other three escaped. All merchandise was recovered and the one arrested will face felony stealing charges. Detectives are seeking the other three involved.

Friday, March 2:

  • At 7:13 a.m., police responded to the 300 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of theft. The victim reported a laptop computer stolen from her unlocked vehicle within the previous two hours.
  • At 10:46 a.m., a resident from the 200 block of West Monroe Avenue notified police of a fraud. The victim’s credit card was used by unknown persons to make an online purchase of a gaming system subscription.

Saturday, March 3:

  • At 1:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of South Kirkwood Road and Big Bend Boulevard. One of the vehicles immediately left the scene. Officers located that vehicle near the intersection of Harrison and West Adams avenues. The driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Monday, Feb. 27 through Sunday March 4:

  • Kirkwood Police arrested 10 adults for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. All ten of the incidents occurred at one retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
