Kirkwood Crime Log: Man Leaves Marijuana in Nearby Bushes

The Kirkwood police blotter for the week of May 21 through May 27.

Monday, May 21

  • Officers responded to a retail business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of shoplifting.  Employees observed an adult attempt to steal merchandise from the business.  The adult was detained by store personnel until police arrived.  The adult was arrested for stealing and the case was referred to Kirkwood Municipal Court.   

Tuesday, May 22

  • Police received a report at 6:58 a.m. of property damage in the 100 block of Ascot Lane. Two tires on a resident’s vehicle were slashed sometime overnight.  
  • At 10:13 a.m. officers were dispatched to a report of suspicious activity at a business in the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road. A witness reported seeing an adult arrive at the business on a bicycle and hide a backpack in nearby shrubbery before proceeding into the store. Officers arrived and located the adult and the backpack. The adult was arrested after marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found inside the backpack.
  • Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Woodbine for a report of suspicious activity. A citizen reported smelling what they believed to be marijuana coming from a residence. Officers made contact at the home and discovered marijuana. An adult at the home was arrested.  

Thursday, May 24

  • At 12:44 a.m. a fight was reported at a business in the 100 block of South Kirkwood Road. One adult was struck by another adult at the establishment and fell to the floor sustaining head injuries. The other adult left the scene. The injured party was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.  Detectives are investigating.  

Saturday, May 16

  • At 11:23 a.m. police received a report of theft from a motor vehicle in the 900 block of Bluebonnet.  A GPS was stolen from the victim’s unlocked vehicle sometime during the preceding overnight hours.  
  • At 7:10 p.m. police responded to assist a Kirkwood Park Ranger with a report of littering at Kirkwood City Park, 502 West Adams Avenue. The park ranger observed an adult driver of a motor vehicle throw trash out the window while the vehicle was traveling inside the park. The driver was issued a citation for littering.  

Sunday, May 27

  • At 6:02 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South Holmes for a report of property damage.  A vehicle parked in the area had a window broken out sometime during the previous two hours while the owner used a nearby walking trail.
