Kirkwood Driver Strikes Tree, Overturns, Gets Fourth DWI Charge, Police Say

Alexander Reed Salerno has three previous DWI convictions and was driving with a revoked license, Kirkwood Police said.

A Kirkwood man faces a felony driving while intoxicated charge after his car left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, police said.

Alexander Reed Salerno, 27, of the 500 block of Central Place in Kirkwood, was charged with DWI as an aggravated offender. Salerno has three previous drunk driving convictions.

Kirkwood Police said the car Salerno was driving left the roadway in the 1300 block of West Adams Avenue at 9:51 p.m. June 25 before striking a tree and overturning.

Police said officers noticed a strong alcohol odor on Salerno and said he had water and bloodshot eyes. Salerno did poorly on a sobriety test and was arrested. A Breathalyzer test showed his blood-alcohol content was .230 percent.

Salerno was convicted of DWI in 2012 in Glendale, in 2008 in Arkansas and in 2006 in Webster Groves.

Bond for Salerno has been set at $30,000.
