A Kirkwood man faces criminal charges after police said he and another man took a woman’s purse and cell phone during an armed robbery in the Dierbergs Market parking lot in Shrewsbury May 15.

Curtis Edwards, 28, of the 200 block of Midway Avenue in Kirkwood, and Markele Prince, 17, both were charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

It’s the latest in a string of armed robbery charges against the two men, although others also were involved in hold ups in other areas.

Edwards has been charged in four other armed robberies last May in St. Louis County. Prince faces two other first-degree robbery charges.

In the Shrewsbury robbery, police said Edwards chose the victim in the Dierbergs parking lot, 7233 Watson Road, and drove a car up alongside her.  Prince pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill the woman unless she gave them her purse and cell phone. The woman complied.
