Police: Kirkwood Man Hits Granddaughter in Head With Bat

The man was upset because the house was messy when he came home, and he assaulted his two granddaughters, Kirkwood Police said.

A Kirkwood man hit his granddaughter in the head with a bat and punched another granddaughter in the face because the house was messy when he came home, police said.

Cecil Jones, 61, of the 300 block of Alsobrook in Kirkwood, was charged Monday with second-degree assault and third-degree assault.

Kirkwood Police said Jones was upset because the house was a mess, and he punched one granddaughter in the face, giving her a bloody, swollen lip.

He then went to another granddaughter’s bedroom and assaulted her with his hands, police said. He then hit her in the head with a bat, resulting in swelling on her forehead.

Bail for Jones was set at $25,000.
