Celebratory Gun Shot, Cab Ride Dash End in Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for Dec. 26 - Jan. 1.

Tuesday, Dec. 27

  • At 3:43 p.m., officers stopped an adult female motorist for a traffic violation in the 11100 block of Big Bend Road. Investigation by officers led to the arrest of the female after she was found to be driving while under the influence of alcohol.  
  • At 6:46 p.m., police responded to a disturbance between roommates at a residence in the 400 block of East Clinton Place. Upon arrival an adult male threatened officers with a knife. Officers ordered him to drop the knife and once he did he was arrested. The St Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges of second-degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest with a $15,000 bond.

Wednesday, Dec. 28

  • At 9:20 a.m., officers arrested an adult female for fraudulently using credit cards to make purchases over the Internet. Her employer in the 300 block of Leffingwell Avenue discovered one of the crimes and reported it to police. Detectives discovered she had made numerous other purchases using credit card numbers which she had access to through her employer. The case will be presented to the St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

Thursday, Dec. 29

  • At 2:45 a.m., officers discovered three vehicles with broken windows on the lot of a business located in the 10500 block of Big Bend Road. Additional investigation revealed four other vehicles were broken into on the lot. Various items were stolen from the vehicles.
  • At 3:53 a.m., police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lockett and Lindgate.  One vehicle left the roadway and struck a guy wire for a utility pole.  The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, was driving under the influence of alcohol.  He was arrested.
  • At 3:57 a.m., police responded to an assault near the intersection of South Geyer Road and West Madison Avenue. An adult male cab driver reported a customer did not pay for his cab fare and attempted to flee. The cab driver restrained the adult male customer but was assaulted by the customer who then fled the area. Police located the intoxicated adult male customer a short distance away. The male briefly resisted officers but was arrested.  He was cited for assault, stealing, and resisting arrest.   

Friday, Dec. 30

  • Beginning at 8:56 a.m., police received two separate reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles. The first was reported in the 400 block of Bodley Avenue and the second was in the 100 block of Churchill Lane. Change was stolen.
  • At 9:08 p.m., officers responded to a business burglary in the 10700 block of Manchester. A store front window was broken out of the business but the owners reported nothing stolen. 

Saturday, Dec. 31

  • At 11:54 p.m., officers on routine patrol in the 900 block of South Fillmore Avenue observed an adult male exit the front door of his residence and fire a firearm into the air in celebration of the New Year. Officers ordered the male to drop the firearm and he complied. He was arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and the firearm was confiscated. 

Shoplifting, Dec. 26 - Jan. 1

  • During the week, Kirkwood police arrested four adult males and two adult females for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. Three of the adult males were charged with felony stealing since each had at least two prior theft-related convictions.
