String of Vehicle Break-ins in Kirkwood; Suspects Make Off With Medical Supplies, Cash

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for October 17 through October 23.

Monday, October 17

  • At 10:59 a.m., police handled a theft report from a resident from the 700 block of Lockett Road. A laptop computer was stolen from the residence sometime within the previous week.  
  • At 3:24 p.m., a resident from the 700 block of Dougherty Ferry Road reported a purse stolen from her vehicle sometime during the previous evening. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft. 

Tuesday, October 18

  • At 8:22 a.m., officers were summoned to the 200 block of Prospect Avenue for a theft report. A vehicle owner reported unknown persons entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet containing cash. 

Wednesday, October 19

  • At 5:30 p.m., police were summoned to the 1000 block of Milwaukee Street for a theft report.  patron of a local church had her purse stolen from her unattended vehicle. The purse contained cash and credit cards.

  • At 12:33 p.m., officers arrested an adult male for possession of stolen property and a parole violation after a routine license plate check in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road revealed the registered owner of a vehicle was wanted for a parole violation from Wisconsin. An adult female passenger from Wisconsin was also arrested for possession of stolen property. The male was held for extradition to Wisconsin. The stolen property they were in possession of was from a business burglary in Wisconsin. 

Friday, October 21

  • At 12:25 a.m., officers stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 900 block of South Kirkwood Road. The adult female driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested. 

Saturday, October 22

  • At 8:32 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of a vehicle break-in. Four vehicles were broken into during the overnight hours. All were locked and sustained damage as a result of the break-ins. Medical equipment, cash and luggage were stolen. 

Shoplifting

  • During the week, Kirkwood police arrested three adult males for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. All offenses occurred at retail businesses in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. One of the males was also charged with trespassing after he was found to have committed a prior theft at the same business.
