Kirkwood Police Report Thefts

The Kirkwood police blotter for the week of May 2 through May 8.

Wednesday, May 4

  • At 1:06 p.m., police responded to a theft report in the 800 block of West Essex Avenue. A laptop was reported stolen from a book bag from a building on the Kirkwood High School campus.
  • At 2:37 p.m., a resident from the 400 block of Meacham Street reported a theft from a vehicle. A carburetor was stolen from the engine compartment of the victim’s vehicle sometime during the previous two days.

Thursday, May 5

  • At 7:40 a.m., officers were summoned to a residence in the 800 block of Brookcreek Lane for a theft report. Two unlocked vehicles at the residence were broken into during the overnight hours. An iPod and credit cards were stolen from the vehicles. The credit cards were then used at several gas stations in the St. Louis area to make fraudulent purchases. Detectives are investigating. 
  • At 9:06 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving four vehicles in the 11200 block of Manchester Road. Two of the drivers sustained injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the first vehicle involved, an adult male, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. His case was referred to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. 

Sunday, May 8

  • At 1:31 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist for a traffic violation in the 400 block of South Kirkwood Road. Investigation led to the arrest of the adult male driver after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A passenger in the same vehicle was arrested for outstanding warrants through a local police jurisdiction. Two hours later, at 3:31 a.m., an officer stopped another motorist for a traffic violation near the intersection of Big Bend Road and Interstate 44. That driver, an adult male, was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol as well as possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

  • Kirkwood Police arrested one adult male and five adult females for shoplifting merchandise from an area business. All of the thefts occurred at a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
