Kirkwood Police Report Injuries From Traffic Accidents

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Kirkwood police blotter for May 30 through June 5.

Monday, May 30

  • At 7:05 p.m., police responded to a report of a train striking a vehicle near the intersection of Monroe Place and South Geyer Road at the Union Pacific Railroad. A vehicle was driven onto the railroad tracks. The intoxicated driver, an adult male, exited the vehicle before it was struck by a westbound train. He was arrested. Train personnel were not injured as a result of the collision.
  • At 8:56 p.m.,  police were notified of a theft from a vehicle parked at an eatery in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.  A window on a vehicle was broken and a purse was stolen.

 Tuesday, May 31

  • At 3:25 p.m., officers observed a motor vehicle accident with injuries occur at the intersection of North Kirkwood Road and Jefferson Avenue. The striking vehicle immediately left the scene and traveled southbound on Kirkwood Road. An officer located the vehicle near South Kirkwood Road and Interstate 44, but when he attempted to stop the vehicle it fled westbound on I-44.  Police were then notified that the vehicle was wanted for a theft at West County Mall. Officers were unable to stop the vehicle as it fled southbound on Interstate 270.  The vehicle was later stopped on Interstate 55 north of Bayless by St. Louis County Police. Three male suspects were arrested and the driver faces numerous traffic charges in Kirkwood including a felony charge for leaving the scene of an injury-involved accident. The three also face charges in other neighboring jurisdictions. Police later learned the vehicle had left the scene of another accident in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.

Thursday, June 2

  • At 10:40 a.m., police were summoned to an auto dealership in the 10700 block of Manchester Road for a stolen vehicle. A silver colored Toyota Camry was report stolen sometime within the past week.
  • At 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of solicitors in the 200 block of East Jefferson Avenue. Officers located an adult male from Kentucky and an adult female from New Mexico who were selling magazine subscriptions. Both did not have permits to solicit and were arrested. 

Friday, June 3

  • At 4:04 p.m., a resident from the 400 block of Bogey Lane reported that an adult male traveling door to door selling cleaning products. The man, from Kansas, was located by police and arrested after he was found to be soliciting without a permit. 
  • Detectives interviewed an adult male who had been arrested for a previously reported theft at a business in the 900 block of South Kirkwood Road. The adult male admitted to stealing a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle from the business on May 31. The case will be presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.   

Saturday, June 4

  • At 2:55 a.m., police were summoned to a residence in the 1000 block of Lark Avenue for a property damage report. The resident awoke to a loud crash and discovered a rock was thrown through a front window of the home.  
  • At 9:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North Kirkwood Road and Manchester Road. A vehicle travelling south on Kirkwood Road struck a vehicle traveling east on Manchester Road. After the collision, the striking vehicle overturned. The other vehicle was forced into a third vehicle at the intersection. The driver of the overturned vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.   

Monday, May 30 - Sunday, June 5

  • Kirkwood Police arrested three adult males and three adult females for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. The thefts occurred at retail stores in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of South Kirkwood Road.
