Man Charged in Connection with Assault on Kirkwood Police Officer

Suspect became aggressive during an incident in Kirkwood on Friday, police say.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Jaimoh Sutton, 36, with assault on a law enforcement officer after an incident in Kirkwood on Friday.

 At 3:15 a.m., Kirkwood police responded to a report of someone trying to break into a residence in the 1000 block of Barry Court, according to a description of the incident provided by the Kirkwood Police Department.

Officers located Sutton who was attempting to kick in the rear door of the home. Sutton, who police say was intoxicated, became aggressive with officers. While police tried to subdue the man, one officer sustained injuries, according to police. Sutton also sustained injuries and the two were taken to a local hospital.

The officer was released from the hospital after treatment and Sutton was transferred to the custody of the St. Louis County Justice Services after being charged by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Sutton is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Sutton was found to have lived at the house previously. The resident declined to press charges for property damage, according to police.
