Man Charged in Connection With Kirkwood Shooting

A Kirkwood man faces multiple charges after a shooting near the intersection of Saratoga and Orleans streets in Kirkwood Thursday night.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged 21-year-old Kenneth Tatum, of the 400 block of Saratoga Street in Kirkwood, with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action after an incident in Kirkwood Thursday.

At about 10:39 p.m. Thursday, the received several reports of shots fired near the intersection of Saratoga and Orleans streets in Kirkwood. Officers at the nearby Kirkwood Commons shopping area came across a vehicle speeding from the area. The driver stopped and notified police that his vehicle was shot at and an adult male passenger had sustained a gunshot wound. The passenger was attended to by paramedics and treated at the scene before being released, according to a statement from the department.

Detectives arrested Tatum Friday afternoon and on Saturday the case was presented to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review. Tatum was transferred to the St. Louis County Jail and is being held on a $250,000 cash only bond.
