Men Stole Assault Rifle, Handgun in Burglary, Police Say

Two teenagers broke into a Kirkwood home Wednesday and stole the firearms and other items, police said.

Two men face criminal charges for breaking into a Kirkwood home and stealing firearms on Wednesday, police said.

The two men, Anthony M. Johnson, 18, and Fredrick Spears, 17, were charged Friday with second-degree burglary, two counts of stealing a firearm and felony stealing.

Kirkwood Police said Johnson, of the 400 block of South Holmes in Kirkwood, and Spears, of the first block of Reasnor Avenue in Webster Groves, kicked in a back door of a house in the 200 block of South Brent Avenue.

They stole a Smith & Wesson M&P AR-15 assault rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, an Apple MacBook laptop computer and a Century fire safe, according to a police report.

Johnson and Spears are being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
