News Nearby: Man Shoots at Neighbor After Being Uninvited to Wedding, Police Say

A Valley Park man shot at his neighbor Saturday after the neighbor said he did not want the man at his wedding, St. Louis County Police said.

Casey McBride, 23, of the 600 block of Leonard Drive in Valley Park, was charged Sunday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

The neighbor told St. Louis County Police that McBride was a family friend who had been at his house all day. While there, McBride finished a bottle of R&R whiskey and continued drinking beer. Later that evening, the neighbor said McBride told him about some active warrants for his arrest.

The neighbor responded that he did not want McBride at his wedding, and the two men began arguing heatedly.

McBride left and came back with a handgun at about 5:25 p.m, pointed the handgun at the neighbor and pulled the trigger, according to the police report. The neighbor told police he heard the handgun click, and McBride told the victim, “The next one is going in your head.”

McBride fired but did not hit the man.

Police recovered a .22 cal Jennings handgun at McBride’s home.

McBride also faces drug-related charges dating back to September 2010. He was charged Dec. 7 with possessing a chemical with intent to make a controlled substance and possessing a methamphetamine precursor drug.

According to a St. Louis County Police report, officers responding to a burglary report at McBride’s residence on Sept. 20, 2010 were overwhelmed by a noxious chemical odor. They discovered a meth lab and meth ingredients in the home in the 600 block of Leonard Avenue.

McBride was being held in St. Louis County jail Wednesday. Bond was set at $125,000.
