POLICE: Man Charged After Slicing Victim With Sword

A St. Louis man faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action after reportedly attacking a man with a sword in Kirkwood Thursday night.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action against William Earnhart, 46, of the 5700 block of Sulfur Avenue in St. Louis, Friday afternoon.

At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday, Kirkwood police were dispatched to the 500 block of Coverdale Lane in Kirkwood for a report of an injured man in the area.

Investigation revealed that the above suspect had assaulted the victim with a sword causing a serious injury to the victim’s arm. The victim was admitted to an area hospital for treatment. Earnhart is being held on $100,000 bond.
