Police Report String of Vehicle Thefts, Investigate Shots Fired

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for Jan. 23-29.

Monday, Jan. 23

  • At 4:49 p.m., police were summoned to the 1300 block of South Kirkwood Road for a theft report. Tools were stolen from a construction vehicle parked in the area. A short time later, at 5:52 p.m., police responded to the 1000 block of South Kirkwood Road for two additional thefts from vehicles. Clothing and loose change were stolen from the two vehicles. A third theft was reported from a business lot on the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. A GPS and camera bag were stolen. All four vehicles had locks damaged by the suspects.   

Thursday, Jan. 26

  • At 3:34 p.m., officers responded to a business in the 500 block of Clark Avenue for a theft report. Several large metal pipe fittings were stolen from the business the day prior. 

Friday, Jan. 27

  • At 12:25 a.m., police stopped an adult motorist for a traffic violation in the 100 block of South Kirkwood Road. The driver was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

Saturday, Jan. 28

  • At 12:34 a.m., officers responded to a theft report in the 200 block of Peeke Avenue. A vehicle owner reported a purse containing cash and a debit card stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
  • At 2:37 a.m., a motorist was stopped for a traffic violation in the 700 block of South Kirkwood Road. The adult was arrested after he was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 7:54 a.m., a resident from the 400 block of North Woodlawn Avenue reported destruction of property. Unknown persons threw a bottle at a vehicle window which caused the window to break. 

Sunday, Jan. 29

  • At 11:20 p.m., police received several reports of shots fired near the intersection of Alsobrook and Orleans streets. Officers arrived but could not locate any victims. Detectives are investigating.
