Pumpkin Patch Theft, Fraudulent Prize Letter Reported in Glendale

The thief claimed to have snatched the pumpkin as part of a dare.

The following information was provided by the Glendale Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Oct. 3:
  • A resident of the 1100 block of Glenway Drive reported receiving a $3 million dollar prize winning letter from Waterhouse Financial Services and was suspicious of its nature. The letter was determined to be fraudulent and was destroyed.
  • Workers at the Webster Hills United Methodist Church’s Pumpkin Patchat 1333 West Lockwood reported the theft of a pumpkin by a male in his late teens who left the area in a blue Jeep. Officers located the Jeep and the 19-year-old male suspect in the 300 block of South Elm in Webster Groves, who admitted to stealing the pumpkin as part of a dare. The suspect, accompanied by his mother, returned to the pumpkin patch to apologize and make restitution. The church declined prosecution.
  • A 40-year-old Rock Hill man was arrested in the 700 block of Bismark as a fugitive of the St. Louis County Police Department. He was released to St. Louis County authorities.
