Resident Says Con Artists Scammed $15K; Police Make Shoplifting Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Kirkwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The blotter for Sept. 5-11.

Monday, Sept. 5

  • At 5:43 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 10500 block of Manchester Road. A vehicle left the roadway and struck two parked vehicles at a nearby business. The driver, an adult female, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Tuesday, Sept. 6

  • At 1 a.m., police were summoned to a business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for subjects stealing merchandise from the business. Officers arrived and found that an adult male attempted to steal two flat screen televisions. He was arrested. An adult female accomplice who left the area prior to police arrival has been identified.  Efforts to locate her are underway.
  • At 2:48 p.m., at the inside the store at 10233 Manchester Rd. 

Friday, Sept. 9

  • Detectives arrested an adult female in connection with previously reported property damage. The original incident involved damage to vehicle tires at a residence in the 200 block of East Woodbine Avenue and occurred during the week of Aug. 8.

Saturday, Sept. 10

  • A resident from the 100 block of Woodridge Road reported being scammed by three men representing a roofing company on two separate occasions. The first incident occurred Sept. 1 when the resident paid for roofing repair. The second incident occurred Sept. 9, when the same group of men returned and asked for additional funds to complete the roof repair. The victim paid more than $15,000 for the repair. Detectives are investigating.     

Shoplifting, Sept. 5-11

  • arrested two adult males and one adult female for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses. Businesses affected by the thefts were located in the 1000 and 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
