Sean Adams Sentenced in Rape of Kirkwood Neighbor

Kirkwood resident Sean Adams was sentenced to 35 years in prison Thursday for the armed sexual assault of a neighbor and other felony charges.

Sean Adams, 20, of Kirkwood, was sentenced to 35 years in prison Thursday for the rape of a neighbor in October 2010, KSDK reports.

In July, Adams, a 2010 graduate of , pleaded guilty in St. Louis County court to charges of forcible rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and three counts of forcible sodomy. One count of armed criminal action accompanied each charge, according to court documents.

The charges followed a sexual assault of a neighbor of Adams on Oct. 7, 2010. The victim lived on North Harrison Avenue. Adams, who was 19 at the time, lived in 200 block of Reedway Drive, according to the Webster-Kirkwood Times.

Armed with a knife, Adams reportedly broke into the home of the victim and sexually assaulted her around 2 a.m., according to KSDK.

In the victim impact statement, the victim says she believed Adams planned the attack for some time. She also says she received a lot of support from her Kirkwood neighbors, family and friends after the attack.
