Woman Arrested For Theft After Calling Police to Report Fake Crime

Kirkwood police said a woman was arrested for stealing and filing a false police report after she called police to report she'd been robbed.

The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Jan. 29:

At 3:27 p.m., police were called to a robbery in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. A woman reportedly claimed to have her wallet stolen. However, police said as they were investigating the reported robbery, employees of a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road reported the theft of merchandise by an adult female. Authorities determined the alleged robbery victim and the suspect in the store theft were the same person.
