No One Injured in Vehicle Fire Outside Kirkwood

Kirkwood Fire and Frontenac Police responded after a compactor truck caught fire Thursday morning near the intersection of Manchester and North Kirkwood roads.

No one was injured when a compactor truck caught fire just outside of Kirkwood Thursday morning.

MoDOT alerted Twitter followers to the incident which occurred near Manchester and Kirkwood roads in Frontenac at 6:25 a.m. The fire did not cause an accident.

Kirkwood Fire and Frontenac Police responded to the incident.

According to Kirkwood Fire Chief Tom Openlander, the only way to address this type of situation is for the compactor truck to dump its load and for firefighters to start spraying water on the debris, City of Kirkwood Public Information Officer Beth von Behren said.
