Warning: Scam Artists Target Glendale Residents

Glendale residents are receiving bad checks and scam letters in the mail, police say.

The following information was provided by the Glendale Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

June 10:

At 12:54 p.m., a resident of Berrywood Drive reported receiving a suspicious letter advising him he won a sweepstakes and needed to send the company $4,250 to cover taxes, etc. The reporting party knew the letter was a scam and wanted to alert others of the scam.

A 2:29 p.m., a resident of the 300 block of N. Berry Road reported receiving a suspicious bogus check via FedEx.The check was written on the account of a business in Peoria, IL. The reporting party contacted the business and was advised the check was bogus and that these checks were appearing all over the country.  The check was destroyed.
