City Council Preview: Public Hearing for Proposed U-Gas Station

This preview takes a look at some of the item's the Kirkwood City Council will discuss at its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday, Feb. 7.

The Kirkwood City Council will meet Thursday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at Kirkwood City Hall. Here's a preview of some the items on the council's agenda. 

  • The council will hold a public hearing on a special use permit for a proposed U-Gas service station at 915 N. Kirkwood Road. The Kirkwood Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to deny the company's application at a Nov. 8 meeting, who said the station would iincrease traffic in the neighborhood and adversely affect the general welfare of the community. 
  • The council will vote on the second reading of a bill that would raise electric rates for Kirkwood electric customers after the first reading passed 5-1 at a meeting Jan. 18. It would up customers' electric bills $76 a year on average. 
  • The council will also hold a public hearing for a proposed Andy's Frozen Custard at 311 S. Kirkwood Rd. It received unanimous approval from the city's planning and zoning commission Jan. 2.
