Couple Stopped at Kirkwood Walmart Indicted on Counterfeit Charges

The two were stopped at the Kirkwood Walmart on Monday with $240 in counterfeit $20 bills, according to court documents. Investigators later discovered a printing operation at the couple's home.

An Imperial couple has been indicted on counterfeiting charges by a federal grand jury.

Misty Ann Root, 38, and Daniel Wayne Flynn, 37, were charged Tuesday with counterfeiting U.S. currency.  The indictment took place on Wednesday. According to court documents, the couple was stopped with $240 in counterfeit $20 bills at the Kirkwood Walmart on Monday. 

Investigators searched the couple's Imperial home later that day and found a large stash of additional counterfeit money, as well as a printing operation.

If convicted, both Root and Flynn face up to 20 years in jail, a $250,000 fine or both. The case was investigated by the Kirkwood Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service.
