Fatal Crash in MoDOT I-270 Work Zone
One person was reportedly killed Friday morning when they struck a work vehicle in the I-270 work zone between Highway 44 and Manchester Road.
The crash happened around 3:15 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of I-270 near Dougherty Ferry Road when a driver struck a workers vehicle, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The crash had traffic on Interstate 270 backed up traffic for hours, even into the morning rush hour.
According to stltoday.com, the highway patrol confirms one person died in the accident. That person's name has not been released.

Kara Price, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Transportation confirms the accident happened in She stated that a water truck contracted by MoDOT that was parked on the side of the interstate was struck by another driver.
As previously reported by Patch, the expansion project has some I-270 lanes shut down between Manchester Road and Highway 44 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. through May.
