Drought Threatens Kirkwood Fireworks Show

The city will make a final decision about whether or not to hold its annual July 4th fireworks display July 3 or 4.

Kirkwood officials are keeping a close eye on the weather. Right now the city is planning to hold its annual July 4th fireworks display in Kirkwood Park but that could change depending on the severity and persistence of drought conditions in the St. Louis area.

The said the following today in its weekly newsletter to residents:

As of Friday morning, we are cautiously hopeful that the City's annual Fireworks display will be held next Wednesday, July 4, in Kirkwood Park (details below). If that changes, we will post it on the City's Website, on the home page, at www.kirkwoodmo.org. Please check the Website rather than calling the City. Thank you!

The city will notify media outlets about the final decision of whether or not to hold the fireworks display the evening of July 3 or the morning of July 4.

Webster announced today it will cancel its Fireworks Display due to dry conditions. Most muni's have now cancelled or postponed their shows. With the City asking for residents to conserve water, lets hope they don't go spend taxpayer money to water down the Fireworks site in Kirkwood to have the display. It can be postponed here too.
