Highland Avenue Bridge to Close for 3 Months

Construction on replacing the Des Peres bridge begins Monday.

Starting Monday the City of Des Peres will begin work on removing and replacing Highland Avenue Bridge, a process that is expected to last three months.

The cost to replace the bridge that was built around 1950 is about $890,000. A federal highway grant is funding 80 percent of the project with remaining funding coming from the city's Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 1995, according to the city's website.

Drivers will be able to access Highland Avenue from the south from either east or west Glenwood drives in Kirkwood. For more information, residents can contact the city's public works department at 314-835-6130.
