New Emergency Siren Coming to Glendale

The new siren will be located nearby Glendale City Hall.

The Glendale Board of Aldermen approved Monday night an easement to allow St. Louis County to install a new emergency siren near City Hall.

St. Louis County has started a process of installing a new, modern emergency alert system throughout the county, which includes the installation of new sirens in Glendale. The county’s original plan was to remove the old siren in front of Glendale’s firehouse, but without replacing it.

Residents, however, complained to the board that they could not hear the other sirens very well. After St. Louis County officials conducted volume testing, they determined another siren at or near city hall was necessary.

The siren will be located a few feet onto the Mount Vernon Condominium property, next door to city hall.
