Runners Carry on Thanksgiving Tradition

The 29th Annual Kirkwood-Webster Turkey Day run is expected to draw 4,000 participants.

On Thursday morning, runners will hit the streets of Kirkwood and Webster Groves to carry on a Thanksgiving tradition that's nearly three decades old and a staple of St. Louis road races: the Kirkwood-Webster Turkey Day Run.

This year's race is expected draw about 4,000 participants with runners coming from across the country to participate in the local athletic tradition.

The 29th Annual Kirkwood-Webster Turkey Day Run features a 3-mile and 6-mile course that start and end at the (see attached map). The 3-mile run starts at 7:30 a.m. and the 6-mile run begins at 8:10 a.m. Registration details can be found . The first 2,000 runners to register will receive a commemorative giveaway.

The event is geared toward runners of all ages who will be able to qualify for first, second and third place awards in the following age categories for male and female participants.

  • 12 and under
  • 13-19,
  • 20-29,
  • 30-39,
  • 40-49,
  • 50-59,
  • 60-69,
  • 70 and Over.

Results will be posted at Big River Running following the race.
