Missouri Baptist University Baseball fans and teammates paid homage to Vianney graduate Clayton Pfeiffer, 18, a freshman infielder, who .

Prior to the start of Missouri Baptist's home opener Tuesday, the team stood along the first base line as a moment of silence was observed. Many of the players had Pfeiffer's uniform number 4 written on their shoes. Some in the crowd had it on their hats. Shirts handed out to the crowd had his initials and a blue ribbon. Sophomore Nathan Utt led participants in prayer, noting that the team had pledged to play in Pfeiffer's honor.

But a five run seventh inning for the visitors proved to be the difference, as St. Ambrose went on to win game one of the doubleheader 6-4, as the Spartans fell to a record of 1-6 on the young season.
