Griffins Are On The Road To The Final Four To Columbia

The St. John Vianney community saluted the first team in school history to earn a spot in the state basketball semifinals before the squad hit the road for Columbia.

There are lots of banners in the Vianney gym honoring school athletic history in volleyball, soccer and other sports. But there are no banners recognizing a state title in basketball. The Griffins hope that changes this weekend.

Thursday, before the team hit the road for Columbia, where they'll face De Smet Jesuit in Friday's semifinal for the right to face Rockhurst or Hickman in Saturday's final, the team held a brief prayer service prior to a pep rally.

Patch was there for all the action as the team was feted in the hallway, as students got on "the roller coaster" and as Head Coach Kevin Walsh talked about going to Mizzou Arena.
